The Process
“What is design thinking and why should you care?” Sarah Gibbons (2016, July 31). Design Thinking 101
DefineObjectives are defined by first understanding your customers. What do the users need? What motivates them? What is their physical environment like: Is it chaotic with chronic interruptions? Is the internet speed slow or fast? Should this be a mobile experience, a desktop experience, a TV experience, or a mix of all? This information in part defines the goals.
Begin producing design artifacts such as a sitemap, primary use case flows, and wireframes. My recommendation is to refine the happy path first. |
ExploreWireframes should depict a clear hierarchy of information thru content, imagery, and functionality within each screen. Don't bury the most import content, promote it. Wireframes lead into interactive prototypes.
Rapidly prototype to refine content and interactions. Don't just stuff your designs with content. A good content strategy works in tandem with good design. Then produce final mockups with pixel perfect placement of typography, colors, graphics, iconography, and styles. |
DeliverDeliver design artifacts such as design specs for features, interactions, scenarios, and the final visual designs (the mockups). Break it into agile stores for development implementation. Then produce UX Design Guidelines making future iterations more efficient.

User Research is a necessary part of the design process
There will be some overlap during the process and incorporating user feedback loops during the design process is imperative. Listen to your customers. Make refinements to the UX throughout the process. Remain nimble. Adjust when necessary without compromising your customer experience.
